But no, there are actual lasers to be found on the playing field. Lasers that increase the size of your playing field, and the number of available ways to win. We thought we’d try it out, and ended up playing it for hours. Whoops!

Laser Fruit Slot Review

Laser Fruit is played on a five reel board, where each reel is three symbols tall. Rather than using standard paylines, the game makes use of the Ways to Win system. To win, simply collect three or more identical icons in consecutive positions, starting with the leftmost reel. No need to worry about following a set payline. So long as the initial conditions are met, the cash prize will be awarded!

There are two special features available in this Red Tiger Gaming release. The first are the expanding reels, that can completely alter your regular playing field. The second is the free spins bonus. Free spins by themselves are powerful enough. But this bonus also expanded paylines are preserved throughout the special feature. Theme & Symbols

Fruit machines aren’t our favorite theme, we’ll admit. But hot damn if these fruits don’t look gorgeous after being given the bright neon treatment. It also helps them blend in nicely with the bright blue lasers that are used to expand the reels. Since everything looks so simple, the developers could focus on fluid animations. So watching the reels increase in size is a two-fold pleasure. Both visual and conceptual.

Some sacrifices were made to make Laser Fruit look cool. The background image, it seems, was one of them. Now, there is some movement there, don’t get us wrong. But you can barely make it out because of how pitch black the whole background is. This was done on purpose to make the neon glow stand out even more by virtue of contrast.

Does it work? It did for us! Loyal readers will know we’re usually not the biggest fans of fruit machines. The vast majority of slots that use them are usually little more than nostalgia bait. But here, we happily welcome the lucky sevens, golden bells, bars and fruit symbols! Our affection is born out of two reasons. The game is played on a 5×3 board with 243 ways to win. Well, that’s how the reels will look initially! Once blue lasers start activating, there’s no telling how big your playing field will end up. Of course, this does means any kind of substantial prize will depend on reels that are much bigger than what players start with. And you’d be correct! And while we like the concept of Laser Fruit’s special features, there’s not much variety in them. To be fair, not every slot needs ten different bonuses to be good.
