How Many Roulette Bets Exist?

Playing roulette is fun, although it can be a bit confusing to learn all types of bets available. Not being familiar with wagers can slow a game down, especially if you enjoy a live version of this game, as payers here place their stakes as the wheel spins.

Outside Bets

As their name suggests, these bets are made on the perimeter of the table. Players can make them on groups of colors and numbers, and not necessarily on a specific number.

• Red/Black.

It’ is a simple bet, made on whether a red or black number wins. It’s an even-money bet, but your winning odds are less than 50:50 because of the 0 (or 00 in American roulette).

• Odd/Even.

Players make bets on whether an even or odd number will be hit. Although this is an even money bet, you won’t have 50:50 odds.

• High/Low.

Bet on whether the winning number will be low (1-18) or high (19-36). Again, this is an even-money bet.

• Columns.

Players bet on the number with one of three columns on the table. Each column consists of twelve numbers. If you win, your bet will be doubled, meaning the odds are 2:1.

Column 1: 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34
Column 2: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35
Column 3: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36

• Dozens.

This bet also covers a dozen numbers, albeit in order (1-12, 13-24, 25-35). It also pays 2:1.

Inside Bets

These bets are made from inside the rectangle containing all the numbers.

• Straight Up.

It’s is a simple bet. You place a stake on any number you want, and if the ball lands on it, you win. It pays 35:1.

• Split.

Players place money on the lines separating two numbers. To win, get either of them. You can bet on any two numbers, as long as they’re located next to each other. This bet pays 17:1.

• Street.

This bet is made on any number located within a row of three numbers. Getting any number from the trio results in an 11:1 payout.

• Corner.

The corner bet resembles the split bet. However, instead of two, you’ll be betting on four numbers. These numbers need to form a square. A win is paid 8:1.

• Line.

Players cover two rows of three numbers located on two consecutive rows. If you win, you’ll get a payout of 5:1.

• Five-Number Bet.

Here you place bets only on one group of numbers: 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3. This bet has one of the worst odds in roulette, 13.16%. It pays 6:1.

• Basket.

Players place bets on numbers 0-1-2-3. A win is paid 6:1.

• Snake Bet.

This unique bet covers the numbers 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, and 34. If you win, it will double your money.
