Ocean’s Eleven

Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney, gathers a team of experienced men to execute one of the most elaborate casino robberies in the history of Las Vegas. Ocean and his men take on three casinos, the MGM Grand, the Mirage, and Bellagio, owned by a ruthless gambling mogul Terry Benedict. The movie is filled with turns and twists that make it one of the most memorable gambling stories ever told on the big screen.

Casino Royale

James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, takes on a poker-playing villain called Le Chiffre in this thrilling movie. Their incredible showdown in Monte Carlo is one of the memorable scenes in the film and also one of the most exciting scenes made in recent years. In the end, Bond faces his opponent in an all-or-nothing game, with a furious pace and a jaw-dropping poker game.

Paul Newman is an aging pool shark Eddie Felson, who stops playing the game, but can’t resist its joys. Scorsese brings a wide variety of characters, including a promising pool player Vincent, played by Tom Cruise. The sequel to the 1961 movie The Hustler, The Colour of the Money is at the same time solid and despairing.

Molly’s Game

The movie is based on Molly Bloom’s memoirs, a former skiing champion who becomes a poker player after a terrible accident. She quickly moves up the ranks of the underground poker scene, organizing high-stakes illegal games. This thriller portrays Molly’s rush and features some memorable characters.


A young Matt Damon is the main protagonist in this tale of a man who uses a poker table to pay for his college. You’ll encounter lots of familiar faces in Rounders, including Edward Norton and John Malkovich. The most exciting part of the movie is a thrilling high-stakes game, where Damon faces the experienced poker baron played by Malkovich. Norton is also spectacular in his role. You can even learn a thing or two from this movie, as it depicts an authentic poker strategy and table banter.

Michael Imperioli plays Stu Ungar, a man who earned his fame by becoming the only poker player to win three WSPO Main Event tournaments. At one point, Stu has everything but eventually loses almost all his money on horses. Watching him rise to the top and then falling dramatically is, at the same time, devastating and entertaining.

The Gambler

James Caan plays a university professor with a gambling addiction. As the movie progresses, so does his mental state, leading him into a path of self-destruction. He continues to borrows money, while at the same time looking for more excitement. A steady crescendo leads to a fantastic climax. Many gambling purists will identify with the main character. In addition to being an entertaining movie, The Gambler is a warning against addiction.


Clive Owen is a struggling writer named Jack Manfred, who is forced to become a croupier at a high-end London casino. His life soon turns into a rollercoaster ride, full of excitement, twists, and turns. Croupier shows a different side of the gambling industry and is very different from what we’re used to seeing in this genre.

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

Guy Ritchie’s movie tells the story of four English friends who lose substantial money in a three-card brag game against a gangster named Hatchet Harry. Now, they have to raise money to pay off the debt, or one of them faces losing this dad’s pub. The movie is packed with excitement, heists, and violence. It also sends an important message that you should never gamble more than you can afford.

Honeymoon in Vegas
