One of the best aspects of sci-fi is witnessing the creativity of artists as they design alien worlds. AstroPop leans heavily in this direction, creating an exciting, futuristic city where several alien species come together to live and trade. It’s an excellent setting for a slot, and one AvatarUX uses to its full advantage.
However, visuals aren’t the only thing a game can offer. That is why we’ll be taking a detailed look at the AstroPop slot and its many features. Find out if this release is right for you by reading our review.
AstroPop Visuals & Sounds
The backdrop puts you in a sprawling park outside the city, where you can see various roaming aliens passing by. In the distance, you can see the towering spires of apartment blocks and offices of a futuristic city, while flying ships zoom in and out of the town.
AvatarUX uses a variety of symbol designs for this game. Low-value icons are playing card royals, while medium-paying symbols include bombs, daggers, and crates. The most valuable icons are the aliens, so keep an eye out for them. An orange robot is Wild, while the word Bonus is a Scatter.
The music choice in AstroPop is solid, though nothing that’ll knock your socks off. It’s a great background track, as it keeps things interesting without distracting you while you’re looking at the paytable. The team also added plenty of jingles that draw your attention to wins and feature triggers.
AstroPop Gameplay & Features
The slot uses a 5×4 grid with 1,024 ways to win. Forming wins requires three identical symbols on adjacent reels. Unlike most slots, winning combinations do not have to start with the leftmost reel, making it easier to form wins.

MultiPop
Each cell has its own win multiplier. After a win happens, the multiplier on that cell increases by one, while the winning icon is replaced with a new symbol. Additionally, multipliers on related cells will also be increased.
Most cells start with no multipliers, but a few will appear with 2x, 3x, or 4x multipliers. The multipliers persist until the next round begins.
Wild Throw
When a cell multiplier reaches or exceeds 5x for the first time, the Wild Throw feature activates. It adds up to three Wilds on the reels, increasing your chance of winning.
Free Spins
Three Scatters appearing simultaneously will activate the Free Spins feature. The bonus is played on a 5×5 board, which means more ways to win than in the base game. Three, four, or five Scatters will net you 5, 8, or 12 free spins, respectively.
Starred Cell
During free spins, every cell can appear with a pink star attached to it. If a starred cell participates in a winning combination, it will consume the star and award one free spin. Stars do not reset between free spins, so they’ll remain on screen until the feature ends or they’re used up when a win happens.
Gamble Wheel
Before playing free spins, you can spin the Gamble Wheel to try to upgrade your free spins round. Through it, you can upgrade to up to 14 free spins, though how many you get depends on what position you land. The upgrade isn’t guaranteed either. If the wheel lands on a zero, you lose the Free Spins feature entirely.
Xpress
As is the case with most online slots, AstroPop allows you to spend extra to improve your odds or to activate certain features immediately. Below, we’ve outlined all the options you can purchase using the Xpress feature.
- Ante doubles your odds of winning free spins and costs 2x your bet.
- Wild Spin guarantees one 5x cell and a Wild. It costs 20x your stake.
- Gamble Wheel triggers the Gamble Wheel feature. It costs 60x your wager.
- Bonus awards 5 free spins and costs 60x your bet.
- Bonus Max grants 12 free spins and increases the chance of triggering features. It costs 250x your stake.
