History of CryptoLogic

CryptoLogic is an Ireland-based software application service provider launched in 1995. It was founded by two brothers Mark and Andrew Rivkin in Toronto, who wanted to find a solution for secure online financial transactions and apply the system they have developed online.

Its subsidiary company WagerLogic handled its gaming software licensing, payment processing ECash and support services. The first product CryptoLogic launched in 1996 was InterCasino, which was followed with deals with important operators like the UK-based William Hill. With the deal with Ritz Club, the company got its gaming software certified by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, and with the deal with Littlewoods Gaming, it got it certified by the Isle of Man.

As an already established and fully certified company, CryptoLogic announced its licensing agreement with Betfair in 2004, for the launch of an exclusive online poker game. Many casino and poker product releases followed, and in 2007, Playboygaming.com even launched poker and casino products using its software. WPTE (World Poker Tour Enterprises) also joined its network the same year, offering both poker and casino products.

2012 was the game-changing year for CryptoLogic since this was the year it got acquired by Amaya. Amaya, a well-established online casino software developer, sold WagerLogic to Goldstar Acquisitionco along with the three gambling sites InterBingo, InterPoker and InterCasino. By 2014, Amaya also acquired Chartwell, PokerStars and FullTilt, becoming one of the biggest gambling companies in the world.
