If you have spent any time among live casino games, you’ll know they often lean towards more complicated gameplay. However, some releases go in the opposite direction. That was the case with the original Dragon Tiger Live, a title so simple even someone with no gaming experience could immediately get the hang of it.

Now, the developer is bringing a new version of this experience called Dragon Tiger Phoenix. How will this new addition compare to the original title and other live casino card games?

Dragon Tiger Phoenix Gameplay

The core gameplay loop of Dragon Tiger Phoenix does not deviate much from its predecessor. However, instead of two cards being drawn, now there are three on the table every round: the Dragon, the Tiger, and the Phoenix. Your goal is to predict which position will receive the most valuable card in the upcoming round.

Alongside these three main bets, you can also wager that the upcoming round will end in a Tie. Tie bets win when two or all three cards share the same value.

As a result, the new game Evolution put forward doesn’t feel significantly different from what came before it. The extreme simplicity of Dragon Tiger Live is preserved, which is great news for casual players. However, if you were hoping the new additions might bring a strategic layer to the game, we’ll have to disappoint you. It’s all about making a lucky guess, crossing your fingers, and hoping Lady Luck smiles your way.

Dragon Tiger Phoenix RTP and Payouts

The RTP for Dragon Tiger Phoenix when playing main bets is 96.99%, slightly higher than the 96.72% of the original Dragon Tiger. Similarly, the Tie bet features an RTP of 94.51%. While still low, it’s a vast improvement over what you could get in the original Evolution release.

The higher RTP comes from the main bet payouts being increased. Because there are now three options, Evolution increased the payouts to 1.8:1. Meanwhile, the Tie bet has two rewards. The first is 7:1 and is granted if two cards have the same value. However, if all three cards have matching values, the prize is increased to 20:1. Unfortunately, getting a Suited Tie in Dragon Tiger Phoenix does not result in an increased payout.

While there may be players who enjoy Dragon Tiger Phoenix, we at OnlineGambling24.com found it a bit too similar to what came before. Adding another card doesn’t result in massive changes, nor does it open any new possibilities. If you enjoyed Dragon Tiger Live, this new variant may be fun to check out for novelty’s sake. However, if you found the original too simple, its successor does nothing to remedy that fault.
