Home News & Articles How to Play Craps Online?

Craps is one of the most popular games at land-based casinos. Although its online counterpart does not share the popularity of the game you can play offline, you can still play Craps at online casinos. Unfortunately, the game is available at virtual tables only at the moment of writing this article.

Craps at virtual tables may not provide you with a realistic gaming experience or the atmosphere you can feel when playing the game at a brick-and-mortar casino, but it offers multiple betting options and brings plenty of excitement. If you are an online gambling enthusiast and you want to know how to play Craps, we’ve got you covered!

Online Craps Basics

Craps is considered one of the most complicated casino games because of multiple betting options players can choose from. However, playing online Craps can be quite easy when you know the game’s basics. The game is played with two dice. A round starts with the first roll of the dice also known as a come-out roll. To initiate it, you need to place your bet and press the Roll button.

Online Craps explained
It’s All about Bets
There are three different outcomes that will determine whether you win or lose. They are a Natural, Craps and a Point. Yet, the most important step is choosing which bets you will play.

Best Craps Bets

A variety of betting options may seem intimidating once you enter the game of Craps. Yet, once you learn which ones you should play, you can beat the game. The Pass Line is one of the best Craps bets and it has the lowest house edge of 1.41% only. This bet wins when a 7 or 11 is rolled (a Natural) and loses when the dice show a 2, 3, or 12 (Craps). Any other number becomes the Point. When this happens, you should roll the Point before a 7 shows up. At this point in the game, you can also play an additional wager called the Odds. It comes with a house edge of 0% and is expressed as a multiplier which varies from one game to another.

Another great betting option is Don’t Pass Line (or Bar). As its name suggests, this is the opposite of the previously described wager. It pays when a 2 or 3 is rolled and loses on a 7 or an 11. If 12 lands, the bet pushes. You can play an Odds bet in addition to it too. The Don’t Pass Line bet comes with a house edge of 1.36%.

Craps Bets to Avoid

Now that you know which bets to play, now let’s see which ones you should avoid. Betting on a 4 or a 10, for instance, is one of the riskiest moves as this wager has a house edge of 6.7%. There are bet types with even higher house edge like betting on a 2 (Snake Eyes) and a 12 (Boxcars). They may seem attractive as they can earn you 30:1, but don’t let it fool you. Their house edge sits at 13.9%.

Tips & Strategy

Now that you are familiar with the best and the worst Craps bets, you should first try the game in free play mode. It will provide you with an opportunity to give the game a try without risking your own money and learn the ropes. Practice playing it until you feel confident enough to start wagering real money.

When it comes to a Craps strategy, you should stick to bets with the lowest house margin. If you want to, you can try those that come with a higher house edge, but you should do it only from time to time. Make sure to keep an eye on your bankroll and don’t risk more than you can afford.

Playing Craps on the Go

Craps may not be the best casino game to play on your mobile device because of multiple betting options. Screens of handheld devices are smaller when compared with those on desktop or laptop devices, so a betting layout may seem crowded. This is the main reason why software developers typically don’t optimise Craps games for mobile play.
