Watch Out for Silverback Attacks in Silverback Gold by NetEnt

NetEnt has been on a nostalgia kick recently and drawing inspiration from some of its most recognisable releases like Starburst and Gonzo’s Quest. Unlike Starburst XXXtreme and Gonzo’s Gold, the new Silverback Gold doesn’t follow on from a popular slot but still makes an impressive arrival in the market.

Basic Info

Since no one had any complaints about the appearance of the original Gorilla Kingdom game, the graphics have stayed almost the same. The slot is set on a five-reel, four-row board, with 1,024 ways to win on every spin. The reels are set against a lush jungle backdrop, with the light producing a beautiful range of colours. Apart from the grid’s looks, the two releases look pretty unchanged, though a feature buy button wasn’t featured in the original.

The slot’s maths model has been upgraded, although the RTP has stayed at 96.10%. On the other hand, volatility is now high. When it comes to betting options, Silverback Gold allows players to wager anywhere from $0.10 to $100 per spin.

Land at least three symbols of the same kind on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost one to create a win. The gorilla premium symbols are the exception, as you’ll only need two of a kind to earn a payout. Two gorillas make their appearance in this release, with the regular one paying 4x the bet for five of a kind, while the golden version awards a prize of 8x the stake for the same number of symbols. Playing cards are at the bottom of the paytable, followed by snakes, birds, crocodiles, and leopards. They pay from 1x to 3x the stake for a five-symbol combination. Wilds are there to replace all symbols except the Scatter and even have multiplying abilities in the Free Spins round.

Slot Features

Silverback Gold’s features are close to the ones found in the original. However, NetEnt updated some things to deliver a completely new experience.

The Silverback Attack feature is making its debut in this game. It can be randomly activated in the Main Game or the bonus round, adding between six and twenty premium symbols on the reels.

Land three, four, or five Scatters to trigger the Free Spins bonus and receive ten, fifteen, or twenty spins. But before the round starts, you’ll take part in a preliminary bonus. You get three spins in a hold-and-spin type game. The triggering Scatters are locked in their place, with the remaining positions respinning. Only token appear on the reels, revealing a value and resetting the number of spins when they land. Once you run out of spins, fill all positions, or the value of your tokens reaches 300, the game will end, and the bonus round will begin.

The tokens you collected are added to a meter in Free Spins, with any new ones also gathered. Collecting a specific number of tokens upgrades one of the game symbols:

• Thirty tokens upgrade the crocodile symbol.
• Sixty tokens upgrade the leopard symbol.
• 120 tokens upgrade the snake symbol
• 200 tokens upgrade the bird symbol.
• 300 tokens upgrade regular into golden silverback symbols.

As we already mentioned, Wilds come with multipliers of 2x or 3x in the Free Spins round. If more Wilds appear in a winning combination, their values will be added together. Landing three or more Scatters add more spins to the count.

Silverback Gold comes with a bonus buy feature. By paying 100x their bet, players can trigger the bonus round whenever they want.
