The poker world was shocked in late 2019, when one of the leading companies in the online gambling business, Microgaming, announced it planned to close the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN).

The decision was made a couple of months prior to the official announcement, following a thorough review of the company’s lineup of products. That meant the developer’s popular network would be forever closed in May this year, after offering players a distinctive playing experience for over sixteen years.

Microgaming did point out that, although the network no longer suited the company’s strategy, the closure didn’t mean the end for poker for the Isle of Man-based giant. The developer also pointed out the existing platform didn’t match its growth plans and added it would utilise a new business strategy to create a successful poker offering in the future.

Poker Returns to Microgaming

Now, only several months after the closure of MPN, Microgaming is planning to start a new online poker era by launching a completely new portfolio of poker games, which are sure to add more diversity to the supplier’s current offering.

Last month, the company issued an official press release, confirming that new titles will form its online casino vertical.

The announcement revealed that the company wanted to offer its customers a chance to enjoy a high-quality portfolio of casino games, further enhanced through the addition of brand-new poker products.

Say Hello to the First New Release

According to the information provided by Microgaming, the first game of the new range of exclusive poker games, ready to be added to the developer’s offering in the coming period, is Hold’Em Poker.

The debut title will also show a new strategic direction for the supplier. Microgaming has described the new game as a refined brand of classic Texas Hold’Em offering that is sure to offer poker lovers the chance to play in an immersive and realistic environment, while at the same time delivering a superb online experience.

Microgaming’s Hold’Em Poker is an action-packed Sit&Go tournament, specially optimised for mobile users. In addition to a €5 buy-in, the game boasts a completely news prize pool wheel, with the maximum payout reaching a staggering €25,000.

The new Hold’Em Poker title will hit the market with limited availability on December 1, as part of the exclusive release phase. The launch across the entire network is scheduled to take place on December 9.

As we’ve already pointed out, Hold’Em Poker is just the first game in the new series of poker products planned to be added to Microgaming’s portfolio over the next couple of months. The next title to be rolled out is Lucyk Showdown, with many others to follow afterwards.

Speaking about the company’s latest product, John Coleman, Chief Executive Officer at Microgaming, said the launch of Hold’Em Poker would add an entirely new dimension to the company’s online casino offering. He pointed out this was the first in the line of exciting and entertaining poker games ready to be added to the supplier’s growing portfolio of products.

Coleman also stated the upcoming games were created do equally appeal to both casino and poker players, to provide the customers with a quality choice. In the meantime, Microgaming continues to diversify its offering by adding new innovative content to its lineup of online casino software.

The launch of new poker games from Microgaming is without a doubt great news for all poker lovers out there. Since the company is one of the leading names in the business, we can expect more quality content, more excitement, and even more chances to scoop hefty prizes in the future.
