The poker world was shocked in late 2019, when one of the leading companies in the online gambling business, Microgaming, announced it planned to close the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN).
The decision was made a couple of months prior to the official announcement, following a thorough review of the company’s lineup of products. That meant the developer’s popular network would be forever closed in May this year, after offering players a distinctive playing experience for over sixteen years.
Microgaming did point out that, although the network no longer suited the company’s strategy, the closure didn’t mean the end for poker for the Isle of Man-based giant. The developer also pointed out the existing platform didn’t match its growth plans and added it would utilise a new business strategy to create a successful poker offering in the future.
Poker Returns to Microgaming
Now, only several months after the closure of MPN, Microgaming is planning to start a new online poker era by launching a completely new portfolio of poker games, which are sure to add more diversity to the supplier’s current offering.
Last month, the company issued an official press release, confirming that new titles will form its online casino vertical.
The announcement revealed that the company wanted to offer its customers a chance to enjoy a high-quality portfolio of casino games, further enhanced through the addition of brand-new poker products.
