Positive Progression Systems

The Parlay system aims to take advantage of a series of wins in blackjack and is based on the idea of doubling your bets after winning hands. For example, if your original bet is $2 and you win, your next bet is $4. If you win again, your next bet is $8.

Once you have reached your pre-determined set of wins, you can stop and either walk away or start a new sequence. In the case of a loss, you just go back to the original stake ($2 in this case). Also known as the “Let It Ride” system, the parlay works most of the time and is especially effective if you stick to small bets and a tight budget.

However, you should also keep the pre-determined winnings rounds at a smaller number, since you can lose it all in a single loss. Four wins should be just enough for most players.

As a positive progression system, the Paroli system doesn’t differ that much from the parlay system. The major difference is the fact that it uses the original stake plus 100% of the profits for the next bet. This system works best with 3 bets, although you can go for more if you’re willing to risk all your money.

If you start with a bet of $1 and you win, you’ll win $2. Your next bet should be $4, which comes from your winnings + 100%. You’ll win $8, so your next bet is $16. In case you lose, you revert back to the original bet, just like in the parlay system.

The Paroli system is quite popular with players these days as it can bring a lot of money in case of a lucky stream of wins. However, all it takes is one loss to erase all the hard work and spoil your evening.

The wildly popular 1-3-2-6 system is an interesting variation of positive progression systems. It takes advantage of no more than 4 wins in blackjack. As the name clearly suggests, players should bet 1, 3, 2, and 6 units on their hands, then start the sequence all over again. In case of a loss, you go back to the original bet.

Let’s put the theory to the test – you bet 1 unit, let’s say $2 and you win. Your next bet will be 3 units, so 3×2=$6. If you win again, you bet 2 original units ($4) and in case of another win, you bet the highest amount, 6 units, in this case, $12. If you manage to win four times in a row, you should probably leave the table with the profits. If you’d like to continue playing with this exciting system, you start all over again.

The good thing about the 1-3-2-6 system is that you will break even, even in the case of losing on the 3rd or 4th hand. It’s a profitable system in the short run, which is why recreational players staying at Vegas over the weekend use it often. Of course, just like any betting system, it shouldn’t be used in the long run as there’s a great chance that you’ll get stuck in a losing streak and burn your bankroll before you know it.
