Keno vs. Bingo: Are They the Same?

If you’re not an experienced gambler, familiar with all sorts of online casino games, Keno and Bingo won’t seem much different. To be honest, the two games are very similar as they both involve choosing winning numbers. And the similarities don’t end there.

Both Keno and Bingo can be played online, with plenty of available gaming options. There are lots of styles and structures offered by online casinos, which can be enjoyed casually or played for real money. Bingo tends to be more popular, at least at the moment, but the majority of them offer both.

This article will examine the differences between Keno and Bingo more closely and get a better idea about the essence of these games.

All You Need to Know About Bingo

Bingo is a very old number-based game, whose origins date back to the sixteenth century Italy. The fact it’s lottery-based and that it uses numbers are the biggest similarities between Bingo and Keno.

In Bingo, players are not able to pick their numbers ahead of time, and that represents the biggest difference between the two games. During a game of Bingo, numbers are drawn from a drum, with a caller calling them out. Players only have to check whether they have the matching numbers, and if they manage to complete their card, they’ll win.

Bingo wasn’t so popular among the younger audience during the 1970s and 1980s, but today the game is played by all age groups. According to a recent survey, more people play Bingo in the UK than tennis!

When compared to Keno, Bingo is much more relaxing game. Players don’t have to worry about picking the numbers ahead of time as the numbers are on the card. It’s the simplicity that made this game so popular among players, both on and offline.

What about Keno?

Keno is much older than Bingo, with the game tracing its roots back to Ancient China. Just like Bingo, Keno is a lottery game which uses numbers to determine the outcome. But with Keno, players pick their own numbers. This is why players who like a more dynamic environment choose Keno over Bingo.

When it comes to payouts on offer, Keno has a huge winning potential, with prizes often reaching six and seven-figure sums. There are 80 numbers on an average card, while players can choose 20 of them. The game has its variations, which depend on the casino you play or the type of Keno game.

Winning numbers are randomly drawn from a machine, which is another similarity with Bingo. Players taking part in the game can instantly see the results of the draw. The rest is quite simple: check your numbers to see if you have any matches, and complete your card to win.

Making the Right Choice

If you’re looking for a game filled with entertainment and excitement, and which is easy to play, then you’re guaranteed to have fun no matter whether you choose Keno or Bingo. You can find it at numerous land-based and online casinos, where you can play it for free or for money.

Keno offers more action, as well as the chance for players to choose their own lucky numbers. Bingo is, on the other hand, more relaxed, and when compared to Keno, has a more social nature. You can always play both games, especially online. After all, it means twice the fun.

Mega Ball is the best of both worlds

Evolution Gaming took the best of both worlds and developed Mega Ball. Mega Ball is a combination of Bingo and Keno. It has a massive jackpot win of half a million. The game is very popular in the live casino section of many online casinos.
