We’ll admit, we launched Inspector Gadget fully expecting to dislike it. Turning cartoons into slots seems like you’re asking for trouble. But what points it lost with its theme, the game was more than quick to regain.

If you want a summarized version of this review, you can just answer the following question. Do you like an absolute, metric ton of special features to activate and chase after? If the answer is yes, then this Blueprint Gaming release is an absolute must play.

Inspector Gadget Slot Review

Inspector Gadget is played on a five reel board, with each reel being four symbols high. You start off with 20 fixed paylines, which cannot be turned on or off. To win, simply collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the active paylines, or else the winning combination will not count.

If we’re not miscounting, there are a total of twelve different special features! Thirteen if you count the Feature gamble as a separate bonus. There’s so many, that there’s really no good way to give you a summed up version in this paragraph. You’ll just have to take our word that they’re amazing and fun! Or you can skip straight to the special features section instead, if you’re impatient. It’s okay, we won’t judge. Promise.

Theme & Symbols

It’s rare that we actively dislike a theme, but this is one of those times. We don’t like child-friendly themes in our slots. We doubt one game using cartoon characters is going to start an epidemic. But why poke the hornet’s nest when there’s thousands of ideas that work better and don’t run the same risk?

The background image shows a sprawling metropolis, likely our inspector’s working place! You’ll occasionally see some clouds passing by, blown away by the strong wind. But beyond that, there are no moving elements to the background. It looks decent, but that’s all it is. Decent. Average. Not blowing our minds, unlike so many other releases we review every day.

Available symbols are split between Inspector Gadget’s work related items and playing card royals. The letters and numbers are your typical filler: colorful and plain, without any decorations. Regular icons include handcuffs, safes, top secret files and police cars! You’ll also come across cogs, bomb Wilds and M.A.D Scatters.

How to Play Inspector Gadget

The slot is played on a 5×4 reel with 20 fixed paylines. All paylines will only pay from the leftmost reel. We’re not sure what kind of volatility the game has, since no information on the topic was posted by the developer. If we had to guess, we’d place it somewhere between medium and high.

Of course, with so many bonuses available, you won’t be able to go fifty spins without activating something. You’ll just be done with stacked Wilds and get back into the rhythm of boring spins only to trigger free spins with fixed Wilds. Then you wrap up with those, only to trigger Colossal symbols. It’s a bit chaotic at first. But once you get used to it, it’s a blast to play!

Your minimum stake is €0.20 per spin, which seems like a fair asking price for 20 fixed paylines. But if you’re a high roller hopping to make some big bets, you’re in luck! Blueprint Gaming’s release allows a maximum wager of €200 per spin. The jackpot is worth 10,000x your total stake, or €250,000 on single spin. Whichever comes first.

Bonus Features

There are two types of special features available to online gamblers. The first are randomly activated Go Go Gadget spins. The second are bonuses which you activate by collecting three or more Scatters. Let’s talk about the Go Go Gadget special features first! To get these, simply answer a phone call and wait for one of the bonuses to be randomly selected.

Using his gadgets, Inspector Gadget creates additional Wilds.

• Penny Stacked Wilds

Stacked Wilds can appear on the playing field.

• Mystery Brain

Mystery icons appear on the board. These can transform into any symbol except for Scatters.

• Colossal Icons

A colossal symbol may appear in reels one, two and three or reels two, three and four.

• M.A.D Added

More Scatters are added to the playing field, increasing your chances of winning the other special features.

• Mallet

A hammer will strike the reels, turning a losing spin into a winning one.

• Quinby

An exploding safe will reveal a winning combination.

The second batch of bonuses are activated by collecting three or more Scatters. There are five special features in total, and which one you get is determined by spinning a wheel. If you get any bonus except M.A.D Money, you can try spinning the wheel again to win a different special feature.

• Safe Heist

Players are offered a wide variety of safes. Choose one: it will become your safe. From here, you pick other safes to remove them from the board. After a certain number of picks, the slot will make you an offer, which you can take or reject. It is possible to win the other four bonuses by drawing them from the safe.

• Dr Claw’s M.A.D Agent

Another pick and click special feature. This time, you choose various M.A.D items to reveal agents beneath. Each agent has a total cash prize, which is granted when three of them are collected. A M.A.D cat icon increases all cash prizes, while three M.A.D symbols activate the M.A.D Money bonus.

• Every Penny Counts

The inspector uses his chopper to fly up the large building. On each floor, there’s a different combination of fixed Wilds overlaid on top of the reels. The bonus ends when the free spins run out.

• M.A.D Dash

Another free spins round, combined with a cash trail special feature. Each time a car overlay appears on the reels, the Gadget Car advances along the trail. This grants prizes and retriggers, depending on where the car lands.

• M.A.D Money

Click the various spinning bombs to uncover cash prizes. This continues until a Collect symbol is picked up.
