Marriage is a chaotic time in one’s life! All the preparation and panic that goes into making everything perfect is intense, to say the least. Bridesmaids slot taps into that, and delivers a faithful re-creation of the movie, for all of its many fans!
Chick-flicks are definitely an acquired taste. Whether you love them or loathe them, they’re a big part of our current culture. Still, did we expect Microgaming to try and tap into that market?
Not really, but that’s why we were so pleasantly surprised with this slot! Personally, the production feels a bit rushed in a few places, but the core of it remains satisfying. It’s a perfect gift from the developer, tied with a pretty pink bow!
Bridesmaids Slot Review
Bridesmaids is played on a five reel board, where each reel is four symbols tall. There are a total of 40 paylines, which are fixed and cannot be turned on or off. To win, players must collect at least three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or the cash prize won’t be awarded.
If you like special features, dear reader, then you’ll be quite happy. Because this game has a whole heap of them! All of them are tied to the wheel, which requires three, four or five cupcakes to activate. From there, online gamblers can win two free spins rounds, and two pick-and-click special features. The wheel can also grant cash prizes! This is especially useful when paired with cupcake boosters.
Theme & Symbols
Fans of the movie will undoubtedly love the theme pick for this Microgaming release! The whole slot is a celebration of Bridesmaids, and is full of call-backs to its funniest moments. It’s everything you’d expect a licensed game to be! That said, the developer did cut a few corners here and there. Nothing that will ruin the fun of it all, but it’s certainly annoying once you pick up on it.
One thing people who enjoy pretty graphics will immediately pick up on is the background image. To say overly simplistic would be selling it short. It’s a pink circle pattern repeated over and over, covering the entire screen. To be fair with this release, they do offer multiple backgrounds. But none of them are particularly complex, and fail to capture our attention. Bridesmaids, Just like The Movie Symbol designs are equally dull, sharing between generic gambling icons and characters from the movie. Said characters don’t have their own animations; instead, any big wins with them play small clips from the flick. Microgaming can do a lot better than this, and often do when it comes to licensed slots. Why their artist team decided to call it a day early is beyond us.
How to Play Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids is played on a 5×4 board with 40 fixed paylines which pay left to right only. The game has a medium variance and a jackpot worth 1750x your total stake. Like with many releases by this developer, the only way to snag this top prize is to make use of its special features. Well, one in particular! That doesn’t discredit the remaining bonuses. The medium volatility also makes them frequent enough that it induces that sense of ‘one more spin’. At least, it did for us!
What sort of special features can you expect to come across? Well, there’s the cupcakes, which can boost the cash prizes you get from the wheel. But what you should be hoping for are the two free spins rounds. They’re easily the strongest of the bonuses, especially Friendship Free Spins. The two pick-and-click special features are alright, but they aren’t nearly as exciting. We’d like them more if their payouts were better.
Choosing your ideal total bet can be done in two ways. The easy way is to just tap the number on the left side of the screen, then pick your ideal wager. If you want more control, you can go into the menu, and tweak coin value and coins per payline there. This allows for stakes between €0.40 and €60 on each spin.
Bonus Features
The Wheel
This special feature is triggered by collecting three or more Scatter cupcakes. You get one spin, which can grant either a cash prize up to 200x, or one of four special features. Pick one of four cupcakes off to the side of the wheel to reveal multipliers for wheel prizes, or two more wheel arrows! The latter is especially useful, as it lets you win a bonus and some extra cash prizes on top of that!
Friendship Free Spins
During this special feature, all lines pay left to right and right to left. Lillian, Annie and Helen symbols will also appear stacked in reels one and two, three, and four and five, respectively. Lillian also acts like a Wild for Annie and Helen icons. Your odds of winning are drastically improved here. And the best part? You can retrigger this special feature and keep the bachelorette party going!
Flying High Free Spins
Ten free spins are played during which Rolling Reels and Growing Wilds are active. Rolling reels allow for multiple consecutive wins, as symbols that were part of that win disappear, making room for new ones to land. Meanwhile, Growing Wilds increase Wild stacks by one Wild per spin.
Boutique Bonus
This one is quite simple. Successfully match bridesmaids symbols to win cash prizes and multipliers! Matching Helen in a wedding dress ends the special feature, so try and find her last!
Magic Moments
Pick up to 10 pictures and reveal cash prizes hidden beneath. The bonus ends when players find a carrot.
Bridesmaids Payouts
Bridesmaids has a medium variance and a jackpot worth 1750x your total stake. The slot has an RTP of 96.71%, which is above the current industry average of 96%.
This is far from the best Microgaming has ever created. But if you’re looking for a new game to occupy your time, then we will absolutely recommend it! This release has numerous special features, and they appear often enough that you’re never faced with a drought of bonuses. So, what’s our final verdict for this slot?
The Positives!
Special features are the single best thing about Bridesmaids! If you like variety in your bonuses, then this game will be right up your alley. Each round of special features starts off with the bonus wheel spinning. Sometimes you get a raw cash prize. Other times, you get to play around with stacked icons and Wilds, or with Rolling Reels and Growing Wilds!
Microgaming’s release is also quite well tuned. It fully makes use of its medium volatility. Bonuses appear frequently, but not so frequently that they lose all value. Your wins, in the same way, aren’t that amazing. But there’s still winning potential there, something to entice you to keep coming back.
The Negatives…
This slot’s graphics were truly disappointing. Unfortunately, this developer was never a huge visual powerhouse. But to see them slack off to this degree, relying on bog-standard backgrounds and dull symbol design? Microgaming can do a lot better than this!
Still, we didn’t let the boring graphics stop us from thoroughly enjoying the gameplay. If you don’t mind the excess amounts of pink, then you’ll probably enjoy it!
