This Yggdrasil release is played on a five reel board, where each reel is three symbols tall. There are a total of five fixed paylines that cannot be turned on or off at will. To win, collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with either the leftmost or rightmost reel. Yes, dear reader – this slot pays both ways! However, all wins must follow one of five active paylines, or their cash prize won’t be awarded.

So, apart from the playing field paying both ways, what can you expect? There’s a Jokerizer special feature.. and that’s about it. After an initial win, you can choose to collect your prize or bet it further in Jokerizer mode. In this mode, your odds of winning the top prize using the Joker symbol drastically increases Which is great news if you land a win. If you fail to do so, however, you lose everything you’ve won.

Theme & Symbols

If you came into this game expecting a mind-blowing theme, we’re sad to disappoint you. The developers added a few things here and there to add a bit of flavor to their release. But Jokerizer doesn’t actually have any set theme to speak of. It’s a fruit machine through and through. We weren’t too thrilled with this, but we’re aware we’re a minority on this issue. Most players either like or don’t care much about slot themes.

And we have to praise Yggdrasil for at least trying to make it work. The bright carnival being hosted under a moonlit sky makes for a gorgeous background image. It looks perfectly innocent on its own, but that experience is made somewhat creepy with the music track. Add the joker’s laugh when he appears on the reels, and we’ve ended up legitimately creeped out by this game.

The vast majority of available icons are fruits, or generic symbols you’d expect to see in a fruit machine. You’ve got your cherries, lemons, grapes, as well as golden lucky bells, lucky sevens and a bright multi-colored star! Every now and then, you’ll see the joker and his soulless eyes pop up to try and eat you alive. Actually no, our editor says we can’t put that here. Instead, he’ll appear to try and grant the release’s jackpot! For the low, low price of your soul, that is.

Jokerizer is played on a 5×3 board with 5 fixed paylines that pay both ways. The slot teeters between medium and low volatility, unwilling to fully commit either way. What we really like about slots made by this developer is how easy it is to change your total bet. That’s a very steep asking price, even if the reels pay both ways.

Bonus Features

The whole time we were playing this game, we kept wishing it had at least one more special feature. Even some basic free spins would have done wonders to improve our enjoyment of Yggdrasil’s release. As it stands, these are its sole two bonuses:

This sounds like a great special feature at first. Until you realize you only get five reels, which makes this bonus a lot less impactful. Don’t get us wrong, it’s nice when it does make an appearance. But much like wins during regular gameplay, it’s a very rare event.
