When we first saw this slot, a very important question rose up in our heads. That question being: who in their right minds picks alcoholism as a game theme?

Furthermore, it’s done in the most disrespectful manner possible, making this guy look like a lazy bum. This is an attempt at comedy that falls flat on its face. It leaves a very foul taste in our mouths as we move forward with this review.

Lucky Drink Slot Review

Lucky Drink is played on a five reel board, where each reel is three symbols tall. There are a total of fifteen paylines which cannot be turned on or off. To win, collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost or rightmost reels. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or their cash prize won’t be awarded to the player.

Belatra’s release only has a few special features. There’s a pick-and-click bonus where you pick a keg to receive the items within. And once the items are revealed, you can also attach a multiplier to each one! There’s also two more gamble bonuses where you can double your prize with each round. It sounds tempting! Up until you realize you could lose all your wins.

Theme & Symbols

We’re not people prone to outrage. But this slot’s theme struck a sore spot with us, and many others, we imagine. Alcoholism is a serious problem, and seeing it turned into the butt of a bad joke is awful. Seriously, Belatra, why decide to pick this theme among the mountain of other choices? This isn’t something we can look past, we’re afraid.

The background seems to be some kind of old-timey tavern. The type of place that might be marketed for ethnic tourism, if it wasn’t looking so run down. Beneath the reels, they stuck the protagonist of this release. He’s sharing a drink with a cat which we assume he’s hallucinating. And judging by how often he’s chugging and refilling his mug, we’ll clearly need the paramedics on the scene soon.

Symbol designs are alright, but suffer from a serious case of outdated graphics. From what we have found out in our research, this is owed to the fact this game was once a physical machine. It seems like the developers decided that updating the graphics for the online release wasn’t worth their time. Which allows us to drop the score for Lucky Drink because of it.

How do You Play Lucky Drink?

You play this slot on a 5×3 board, with a total of 15 fixed paylines which pay both ways. The game has a medium variance, and a jackpot worth 1,500,000 coins. We’re not too pleased with gameplay outside of special features. Having paylines which pay left to right and right to left is a cool addition. But it’s not enough to keep online gamblers invested as they wait for the next bonus round to start!

Apart from the possibility of big wins, none of the special features stand out, either. Sure, opening a bunch of barrels and getting big wins and multipliers can be thrilling. But it’s the same bonus over and over again, with no extra special features. Yes, we know there’s the two Gambles. But we think it’s fair to say those don’t count. They’re not a gameplay addition; they’re just randomly guessing cards.

Unfortunately, this Belatra release continues using coin values. So while the process of adjusting your total bet is straight-forward enough, you can’t see the cash. You’ll have to keep a close eye on your current balance while spinning to make sure you’re not overspending. This is a problem the developer could easily solve by just letting us see the cash values directly. As to why they don’t? Who knows.

• Barrel Bonus

Find three or more Devil Scatters to trigger this special feature. In it, you open all five kegs to reveal items within. After all items are revealed, you’re given the option to add a multiplier to each icon, or play it safe. Sure, guessing correctly increases your total win, but guessing wrong costs you everything. And those aren’t odds we’d like to bet on.

• Card Double

Players see a face-up card, and four face-down cards. You get to pick between the four face-down cards. The goal is to correctly guess a card which has a higher value than the face-up card.
Successfully doing so doubles your prize, but guessing wrong is a complete loss. You only get five rounds with this special feature, and it can end early if you win more than 100,000 coins.
