We weren’t sure what we should expect upon first launching this slot. Belatra isn’t the most well-known developer out there, and their grasp of English is… questionable at best.

Piggy Bank Slot Review

Piggy Bank is played on a five reel board, where each reel is three symbols tall. There are a total of nine paylines which cannot be turned on or off. To win, players have to collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost or rightmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or their cash prize won’t be awarded to the online gambler.

Three or more piggy symbols trigger the special feature. The robber will break one of the piggy banks open, reveals a cash prize, a key, or a free spins round. The bonus only ends when the policeman appears to arrest the robber. The key is used to activate a Safes special feature, which is a pick-and-click that awards a cash prize. During free spins, one of the reels will become Wild, and shifts left and right along the reels.

Theme & Symbols

Everyone loves a good bank heist story. Watching all the pieces come together to pull off a seemingly impossible heist has been the fantasy of many. Sadly, this slot doesn’t really capture that thrill and intrigue. You’re just following a basic grunt smashing piggy banks open in preparation for the big leagues! And even then, he risks getting arrested by the cops if he’s not careful.

We’re really not huge fans of the background image. It’s a big, dull gray wall. The reels themselves mask the hidden entrance through which you gain access to the vault. Once you break in, you can see a few large safes behind you! You also get an interesting background during the Gamble bonus. Who doesn’t want to see stacks of Benjamins and gold coins sitting next to a piggy bank, after all?

Icon designs are cartoony, light-hearted, and completely unique! There’s no playing card royals dragging down the experience here. Available symbols include a stack of cash, a getaway truck, gold coins, the thief, a mallet, a safe, and a key. The highest paying icon is the detective. There’s also a wanted sign serving as a Wild, and the piggy bank acting as a Scatter.

You play this game on a 5×3 board, with 9 fixed paylines which pay both ways. Belatra’s release has a high volatility, and a maximum jackpot worth 1,111.11x your total stake. And, as is the case with any top prize, landing it can be quite difficult! Given Piggy Bank’s higher variance, we had hoped the top prize would be higher.

But hey, what else are special features for if not to help you land the big wins? Your best bet is probably to try and win a free spins round. Barring that, the Safes special feature can grant an alright score, but it’s not as high-paying as the jackpot is. Both bonuses are activated using the same method, which can also grant additional cash prizes on top of triggering them!

Choosing your total bet is kind of easy, but it’s also not. The game allows you to directly tweak your total bet by adjusting the bet per payline value. Just tap plus and minus until you get the wager you want. All good, right? Well, it would be, if the developers didn’t hide your actual cash value. Collect three or more piggy Scatters to activate this special feature. During it, the robber will break open piggy banks, which can grant cash prizes, a key, or free spins. The thief keeps smashing the piggies until a policeman appears and ends your fun. Players can also find a brick, which can save you from the officer once.

• Safes

If you stumble upon the key inside the piggy bank, you are allowed to pick one of five safes. Opening your selected safe awards a cash prize, and ends this bonus.

• Free Spins

If you do succeed in activating free spins, you will play them last. During these extra turns, a Wild reel appears in one of the random reels. From there, the Wild reel will travel to the right until it reaches the end of the playing field. It will then move back left, to the first reel. Then, it will go back right, and keeps moving back and forth until free spins end.

• Gamble

Players are given a chance to double or lose each winning spin. Gamblers are shown a face-up card, and four face down ones. The goal is to correctly guess a card that has a higher value than the face-up card. You only get five successful gambles per win.
