Invisibility has been a tool of comedy and action for ages. Every medium, from books, TV shows, movies and cartoons has tackled it in a humorous manner.
But if you really stop to think about it, the very idea of invisibility is terrifying! Even right now, while you’re relaxing and reading this review, there could be someone in the same room. They could be planning all sorts of heinous things, and you’d be none the wiser they even exist! That’s the world in which this slot exists.
The Invisible Man Slot Review
This game is played on a five reel board, with each reel being three symbols high. There are a total of 20 fixed paylines, which is standard for most releases with five reels. With paylines being fixed, you cannot turn them off to lower your total bet.
In order to win, players have to collect three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions. Invisible Man, ironically, stands out since it pays both left to right and right to left. This increases your odds of winning.
And while this slot does borrow a few ideas from Jack and the Beanstalk, it puts it’s on twist on things. There are two types of moving Wilds you can find on the playing field. They award re-spins, and free spins if they collide on the same row. These free spins then lead into two additional bonuses: Police Spins and Griffin’s Rage.
Theme & Symbols
The core them of an invisible, murderous psychopath was inspired by a movie, released in the sunny, cheery year of 19..33? It’s certainly vintage in design, but that just helps sell the horror. After all, you can hear someone tinkering with the lab equipment, even if you can’t see them. And it’s not like NetEnt would stick you in the same room as a killer you aren’t able to see. Right? The Invisible Man by NetEnt Gaming Sadly, we don’t really get a good look at the lab. The background image is quite zoomed in, and shows a large room slightly obscured by lab fumes. That said, we do get an awesome look at the chemicals that help our scientist remain unseen. Liquid slowly bubbling to the surface and fumes slowly escaping the lid and filling the air.
We love the symbols. Well, correction. We like some of the icons. The human characters are some of the best that NetEnt has ever designed. The use of lighting is exceptional for every symbol. All of them seem to have a shadow that’s being cast over them. Even though their icon art depicts them as being alone. Hmmm.. We were hoping for something equally as clever with the filler playing card royals. Sadly, no such luck!
How to Play The Invisible Man
The game is played on a 5×3 board with 20 fixed paylines. So, on first glance, there’s nothing remarkable here. It’s just another NetEnt release with a standard playing field and an average number of paylines. But that’s where The Invisible Man ambushes you.. with his amazing pays both ways system! That’s right, dear reader. For the price of twenty winlines, you effectively get forty!
But the best murderers are ones who lure their prey to them. And rest assured, this slot will commit brutal, aggravated assault on your wallet if you’re not careful! This is a game that takes a while to truly open up. Its special features are able to create fantastic wins! But they’re also more than capable to leave you with zero wins. In this dangerous dance, the person who knows when to retreat wins. If you’ve been granted an awesome win, pull back. Because anything sweeter is just a trap waiting to be sprung!
There are twenty paylines in total, but they pay both left to right and right to left. As such, this NetEnt release can be played for as little as €0.20 per spin. Great value at first glance, but rest assured: the developer accounted for this. That’s why they’re no shy about offering you a maximum stake worth €100 per spin. They know they won’t lose more than 1000x on each spin. The Invisible Man Gameplay
Bonus Features
There are multiple bonuses available to the daring few willing to face the Invisible Man! Cross your fingers and hope you get lucky. Because one special feature immediately leads into the next, dragging you closer to the danger. And the big wins!
Walking Wilds and Re-spins
There are two Wilds available on the board, which are the policeman and our invisible murderer. The officer only appears on the first reel, while Griffin shows up on reel five. When they land, a re-spin is played. During this re-spin, these Wilds move one position to the right or left, respectively. Re-spins continue until no more Wilds appear, or the free spins are activated.
Free Spins
If the police and Griffin Wild meet on the same row during normal gameplay, ten free spins are awarded. Any additional collisions between these two conflicted Wilds will award four more free spins. To make winning extra turns more likely, both Wilds can now appear in all positions until the bonus ends.
Also during free spins, players can find two meters, with each one having eight spaces. Every time a policeman or a Griffin Wild falls off the reels, one space is filled from the appropriate meter. If one of the meters is filled before the special feature ends, one of two different bonuses are played.
Police Spins
The slot awards three spins to be played. During these spins, five regular Wilds appear in random positions on the playing field. No other Wilds will make an appearance.
Griffin’s Rage
You choose one of the various locations tied to the tragedy of our invisible doctor. You pick one of five prizes from each of the three locations. Players can win a multiplier, a cash prize, or a Police hat. The latter ends the special feature early.
Payouts
If there’s one thing we didn’t like, it’s the payouts. The game has a medium-high variance, but a jackpot worth only 1000x! With an RTP of 96.3%, it stays above the current average, though not by much.
We haven’t heard of the movie before seeing this NetEnt release. But after this, we’ll definitely be seeing it! Invisible Man has thoroughly impressed us. Why?
The Positives!
Fantastic graphics! A beautiful background image and cool symbol designs go a long way to selling this slot.
Gameplay is quite enjoyable, too! Winlines paying both ways is always a favorite for online gamblers. Not to mention the..
Amount of special features! There are four or five in total, and all of them are enjoyable.
The Negatives..
There’s just one, but arguably, the most important one. The payouts aren’t as great as they could be. For a game with a volatility this high, we were expecting more than 1000x.
Despite the flaw, we still think you owe it to yourself to play this NetEnt release. It does too many things right to be passed up on. Besides, you don’t want to disappoint your new best friend whose reading this over your shoulder, right?
