Play’n Go has had a long and successful history with grid-based slots. It’s easy to see the appeal. They offer a large playing field, cascading reels and cluster pays. Put all three together, and you have a recipe for massive wins on every spin!
With this kind of engaging gameplay, you’ll almost forget the quite basic theme. Don’t get us wrong, it looks really cool. But compare it to the colorful Reactoonz, and the difference is obvious.
Wild Frames Slot Review
The game is played on a large seven reel board, which uses cluster pays instead of standard paylines. So long as five or more identical symbols form a cluster, players will receive a prize. Thanks to the huge playing field, these clusters can include 30+ icons at the same time! The background also caught our attention. It doesn’t look that interesting at first glance. But watching it swap colors from purple to gold when the bonus is triggered looks fantastic!
We’re not all that impressed with the symbol designs used in this release. Going for well-known classic slot icons isn’t a bad idea. Draw in fans of classic games to Wild Frames with its appearance, and win them over with gameplay. If you’re a fan of how they look, that’s great. But if you’re a little burned out on all the bells and sevens, it won’t do anything to win you over. The red lucky seven is the most valuable symbol in the entire game. Wild Frames hinges on the punter’s ability to make good use of its special features. The cascading reel alone can create explosive combinations and frequent wins. If you win a certain number of times, it fills the Charge Meter to the right. Each time you reach a milestone, you unlock one of three bonuses! Fill the meter up to 80, and you trigger Wild Frames, the main bonus of this Play’n Go release.
How to Play Wild Frames
You play this slot on a 7×7 board, using cluster wins instead of standard paylines. The more you win, the more special features you unlock. These bonuses drastically improve your odds of winning, and are the only way to hit the 7000x jackpot! You can wager between $0.20 and $40 on each spin, which makes for a decent betting spread. If you want to win real money you should go to an online casino that offers Wild Frames and take a spin.
Let’s see what charming bonuses this game offers us, shall we?
Any time a Wild symbol lands on the board, it creates a frame. These frames don’t persist between spins. That said, if you chain together several cluster wins, you get to keep them on the board. If another Wild lands in an existing frame, it increases its multiplier. A single frame can have a 9x multiplier as a maximum. Frames stay inactive until the Charge Meter is filled completely!
Each winning symbol increases the meter by one. When the meter reaches 20, 40 and 60 symbols, it activates the corresponding bonuses. 20 charges activates Transform, all non-suit icons are transformed into a single non-suit symbol. Wildcard at 40 charges adds between three to six Wild icons. And at 60 charges, all suit symbols are destroyed and removed from the board.
Collect 80 winning icons, and you activate the Wild Frames bonus. All inactive frames now become active, transforming into Wilds. In case you unlocked a multiplier for a specific frame, it will be used to calculate wins that it is a part of. For every ten charges that you go above 80, you unlock two additional frames which will be positioned at random.
Play’n Go’s release isn’t a brand new formula. It’s been around for ages, and the team has given it quite a few tries. That said, the developers has wisely kept it a rare treat which appears every so often. Because of that, grid-based slots continue to be an engaging experience, rather than evoking a tired sigh.
The combination of a big playing field, cascading reels and cluster pays is incredibly fun
Awesome high volatility action, with a 7000x jackpot
Engaging special features
The theme feels bland and uninspired
Symbol designs could be better
