Mega Dragon is played on an eight (yes, eight!) reel board, where each reel is seven symbols tall. This massive playing field isn’t just for show either; it plays an integral role in making this releases’ cluster pays work. If five or more identical icons are adjacent to each other, horizontally or vertically, they grant a win. These symbols then disappear from the reels, and new icons fall to take their place.

All special features are handled using Wilds! Place two of them adjacent to each other, and one of three dragons will appear! Each dragon has a different effect, based on the color of his scales. Green dragons will clone a random low value symbol, and transform it into a high value icon. Golden Dragons transform random symbols into Wilds. Finally, the Red Dragon picks a random high value icon and expands them into a Mega Tile.

Theme & Symbols

One look at this slot will show it doesn’t hide its Chinese inspiration for a moment! From the background image, the massive oriental dragons, and all the symbols. It’s all China, all the time! Burned out on this theme as we are, it didn’t quite appeal to us. But if you’re a fan, you’ll probably have a blast with this Red Tiger game!

But even we can appreciate some gorgeous graphics when we come across them. And Mega Dragon’s background image certainly qualifies! There’s some standard stuff, like big red pillars and a scenic view of some beautiful mountains. But behind the reels themselves is a dragon’s face. That’s cool by itself, but you’ll also see occasional bouts of smoke along the underside of the board. It’s as if this painted dragon is breathing!

Unfortunately, icons failed to captivate our attention as much as the background did. There’s a mixture of traditional Chinese symbols and playing card royals present. The letters and numbers have definitely been stylized to look like Chinese letters, which makes them look cool. Alongside them are a bunch of icons you’ve seen in other releases, so we won’t bore you with the details.
