Despite the fact we’re reviewers, there are some slots and themes that don’t sit right with us. We don’t hide our biases here: we lay them out in the open. Why are we mentioning this?

Because we dislike three reel games, especially when it’s just spinning to win and nothing else. And despite StakeLogic’s release attempting to claim a dash of uniqueness by including two reels, they fit this category to the T.

Random Runner Slot Review

Random Runner is played on two three reel board, where each reel is three symbols tall. There are a total of five paylines across both playing fields, which cannot be turned on or off. To win, collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or their cash prize won’t be awarded.

This is the part where we’d talk about special features, if this slot had any to begin with. No such luck, we’re afraid! The developers clearly thought that having two reels was unique enough, and called it a day. But for anyone who’s played more than two games in their lifespan will quickly get bored with this release.

Theme & Symbols

StakeLogic’s desire to recreate a real life physical machine extends into the theme! Random Runner is designed to look like an actual machine you might find in Vegas or at your local pub. If this is something you enjoy, then more power to you. For us, this is a lazy theme that fits the dull gameplay this slot offers.

And don’t expect any mind-blowing visuals to make an appearance either. The background image is a static picture of a bar area. You only see the barest hint of what’s actually there; as most of it is hidden behind the reels. Reels that are, of course, non-transparent, preventing you from soaking in the details!

But don’t worry, the generic nature of this game continues with its symbol designs! We hope you like fruit, because that’s the vast majority of icons here. You’ve got oranges, lemons, strawberries, watermelons, plums and grapes. Other available symbols are equally bland and commonplace; lucky sevens, golden bells and blue-white stars.

How to Play Random Runner

You play this release on two 3×3 boards with 5 fixed paylines available for each. Random Runner has a medium variance and a jackpot worth an abysmal 200x your total stake. Sure, that’s a good prize for a board this small. But that would require us making a conscious effort to play this slot over the vast library of games that are better than it is. We doubt even a progressive jackpot could sway us from this opinion.

Honestly, whoever was the bright mind that decided to go with no special features deserves to get re-examined. We’re willing to admit we may not be the target market for this StakeLogic release. We could have still sucked it up and given it an honest rating. But there are no Wilds, no bonuses, no multipliers, or free spins, or anything at all. This is simply unacceptable in our eyes.

At the very least, setting your wager has remained simple. Players can click on the Total Bet button to reveal active boards and the current coin value. By tweaking both, online gamblers can make a stake as low as €0.20, or as high as €200 on each spin. This type of wager spread should please both casual players and high rollers. That, of course, implies that it could attract them in the first place. That’s a big if.

Bonus Features

We’ve already gone on a rant at the sheer absence of anything similar to a special feature already. We’ll save our fingers from typing, and your sanity from having to re-read our complaints. We honestly have no idea why StakeLogic thought they could get away with this. Until this matter is fixed, Random Runner will never move off our ‘not recommended’ list.

Random Runner Payouts

The slot has a medium variance, and a jackpot worth 200x. No, you didn’t read that wrong. You are expected to play a medium volatility game for a measly 200x maximum prize. Even the RTP is below average, sitting at 95.49%.

Summary

It’s quite rare for us as reviewers to find a release that we dislike so thoroughly, we can’t find one good thing about it. Usually, you can see what the developer was trying to do, even if their vision doesn’t pan out in the end. But Random Runner? It’s a trash tier slot that absolutely no one should play.

We can think of no good reason as to why you’d play Random Runner. The graphics are dated, gameplay is boring, and your jackpot is miniscule. Do yourself a favor and get as far away from this slot as humanly possible. You’ll thank us later.
