Spartania Slot Review
Spartania is played on a five reel board, where each reel is three symbols tall. There are a total of thirty paylines, which cannot be turned on or off. To win, collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or the cash prize won’t be awarded.
And hey, look. There’s actual special features available this time around! No free spins, unfortunately, but we do get several cool bonuses in its place. There’s a pick and click special feature that awards a cash prize. There’s also a wheel of fortune that can grant a multiplier up to 250x your total stake. Finally, Wilds will expand to cover the entirety of the reel they land on, and there are randomly applied multipliers on each spin.
Theme & Symbols
We’re somewhat nerdy when it comes to history, so this slot was right up our alley! It puts you in the boots of the most militant Greek city-state of them all! These are the people who held the line when a massive army of Persians sought to break them. But, despite their undeniable awesomeness, they remain criminally underused as far as game themes go.
Honestly, we like most of the visuals this StakeLogic release has to offer. The background image looks quite cool, depicting the grassy outskirts of a settlement. On the left side of the reels is a warrior show-off, and on the right a sly woman! The experience would have been a lot better if we had good animations, too. But it seems the software provider doesn’t have pockets deep enough to make this happen.
That doesn’t mean they didn’t try, however! Sadly, all the symbol animations end up looking laggy and clunky for us. We appreciate the attempt to include them, but it might have been better to have no animations than non-fluid ones. We’re also not big fans of the animal icon designs. They come across as too cartoony for our liking. Just compare the tiger and the armored elephant to other symbols to see what we mean.
How to Play Spartania
Spartania is played on a 5×3 board, with thirty fixed paylines. The slot has a medium variance, and a jackpot worth 1666.67x your total stake! It does require getting super lucky with the random multipliers available with each win, sure. But even if you don’t reach this magical number, you can make use of other bonuses to reach solid prizes that comes super close to that jackpot!
The most obvious is the wheel of fortune, especially if you score the 250x multiplier. But since there’s a big range of available multipliers the wheel can give you? Well, let’s just say that we’re not holding our breath for anyone to actually win big here. Other special features can also serve as good jumping boards to enhance your wins. Changing your total bet remains a simple affair. Click the Total Bet button, choose your coin value and bet per payline, and you’re set to go! Both of these do display in coins. But you can see your wager and total cash balance right beneath. By adjusting both the aforementioned values, this game can set wagers between €0.30 and €48 on each spin.
Click Me Bonus: When three Scatter chests appears in reels one, two and three, this bonus is triggered. Players are tasked to pick between 28 coins. Each coin can contain a cash prize or a Collect symbol. The goal is collect as many coins without stumbling onto the Collect. More coins means more wins, and everybody loves more wins!
Wheel of Fortune
When the wheel icon appears on the highlighted position on the fifth reel, the associated bonus is activated. The wheel spins, awarding a multiplier between 5x and 250x. This multiplier is then applied to the total bet of the triggering spin.
When a Wild lands on the board on reels two, three and four, it automatically expands to cover that reel. This effectively transforms a regular Wild into a Wild Reel! Both can substitute for any symbols except the Scatters.
A random multiplier between 1x to 5x is granted at the start of each spin, with no way of turning it off. This multiplier is different with each spin.
Spartania has a medium variance and a jackpot worth 1666.67x your total stake. It also boasts an RTP of 97.22%, which is a whole percentage point above the current industry average!
It’s incredible how fun slots can be when you actually put in some effort into them! This is no Random Runner, so bad we wouldn’t recommend it to the neighborhood squirrel. This is a proper, full-fledged game! But how does it stack up compared to all other releases we have played?
We like the theme! Sparta needs more love in general. Sure, we saw an uptick after the movie 300, but that’s long since passed.
With an RTP of 97.22%, Spartania sits above the current industry average. Considering some of their slots struggle to break the 96% average, this was quite impressive on StakeLogic’s end!
The myriad of different special features creates interesting gameplay that will keep online gamblers engaged for a while! Just as soon as one bonus is getting dull, another one activates to fill that void. It’s awesome.
The game’s graphics could definitely use an upgrade. We do like their attempts at animating all the icons, but it just doesn’t work. For animations to truly shine and enhance a release’s visuals, they have to be quite fluid! Jittery ones, like we see in Spartania, usually have the opposite effect.
StakeLogic has outdone themselves in creating this slot. Having said that, we can’t help but wish the developer would stick to this level of games. Boring, filler releases like Club 2000 do little to improve the image of the studio. As for Spartania itself? We would definitely recommend it!
