Blue Beard Slot Review

Blue Beard is played on a five reel board, where each reel is four symbols tall. There are a total of 40 paylines which cannot be turned off and pay left to right. To win, collect three or more identical icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the currently active paylines, or else the cash prize won’t be awarded to the player.

Activating the free spins round is a bit harder than you’re used to. Because to trigger them, you need to land at least three stacks of Scatters, not just three Scatters like usual. This makes it more difficult to land the bonus, which is true. But it also means the developers can give you a lot more extra turns to start with. Alongside that, you can expect a Super symbol, two gamble bonuses and the lucky wheel.

Theme & Symbols

If our awesome search skills are correct, then this is a French fairytale. In it, a young woman marries a handsome lord with a big castle and lots of wealth. Everything’s absolutely perfect! Except for the fact she’s not allowed to use the smallest key to open a room in the castle. Naturally, her curiosity gets the better of her, and she does open the door. We’ll let you find out what happens afterwards…

We’re not big fans of the background image. It’s a large, sprawling forest, with a small stone bridge in the middle. It might look cool if the whole thing wasn’t bathed in blue and black to the point where you can’t actually see anything. The visuals are also a bit outdated. It’s a shame, because we really like the idea. But with a flawed execution, the graphics fail to capture our imaginations.

Icon designs are the same thing. They’re successful in depicting how spooky our blue-bearded noble actually is, and the dashing good looks of his wife! There’s also a chest full of gold, silver goblets, a pair of throwing knives and a gorgeous silver ring. Wrapping up the selection are a number of boring playing card royals.

How to Play Blue Beard

You play Belatra’s release on a 5×4 board with 40 fixed paylines which pay left to right only. Blue Beard has a medium variance and a maximum jackpot of 12,500 coins. We can’t say that we found the gameplay particularly engaging. The whole thing revolves around triggering free spins and getting insanely lucky. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t really offer anything new or innovative. It’s just more of the same.

That does mean the slot’s special features aren’t that great, either. The inclusion of a Super symbol can be quite useful, and it’s cool that the developers let you pick one for yourself. Indecisive gamblers can let the game randomly pick for them. We wouldn’t recommend that, however. The more valuable your Super icon, the less free spins you get, and vice versa. The question is; how volatile do you want this release to be?

Changing your total bet is the same as in previous Belatra slots. Tap the plus and minus buttons to change your coin value, and by extent, your total wager. Unfortunately for gamblers, Blue Beard displays all values in coins. That means if you want to see what your actual bet is, you’ll have to look at your online casino balance.

The dealer holds one card face-up for the player to see. Then, you are asked to pick between four face-down cards.
