Folk heroes never looked this good before! In Lady Robin Hood slot, you’re still spreading the wealth to the people. But can you hope to make off like a bandit yourself? Read OG24’s review of this Bally game to find out!
Like it or not, online gambling is mostly a male hobby. So it’s no surprise that we often see gorgeous gals at the forefront of every slot. Bally is well aware of this – and clearly weren’t too keen on letting a bit of historical accuracy stop them.
What we get is a thrilling game with a female rendition of Britain’s favorite folk hero. But is there more to this release than its beautiful mascot?
Lady Robin Hood Slot Review
Lady Robin Hood is played on a five reel board, where each reel is four symbols tall. Players have access to 40 paylines in total, which cannot be turned on or off. To win, collect three or more identical icons, starting with the leftmost reel. All wins must follow one of the active paylines, or the cash prize won’t be awarded to the gambler.
As you’d expect from a slot starring the leader of the Merry Men, there’s quite a few special features available. Or is it Merry Women in this game? We’re getting sidetracked! Keep a close eye on the reels, as every so often arrows will shoot at the board, creating up to eight Wilds. There’s also a free spins bonus during which all wins are doubled, and locked Wild Reels becoming available.
Theme & Symbols
Considering it started its life as a physical machine, this Bally release looks awesome. Sadly, you don’t see much of our fair lady while playing. But you do see the results of her work quite often! Arrows will frequently shoot at the reels, trying to help you in scoring some good prizes here and there. It’s not the most visually impressive slot we have ever played. But it looks better than what the developer usually offers.
Do you like cozy, green forests and all associated noises that come with it? Because that’s exactly what Lady Robin Hood gives its players! That said, you don’t really see much of it. It’s there, but the picture is blurred out, forcing you to focus on the reels. You see a few trees and a bit of tall grass. That’s about it. Lady Robin Hood Gameplay Symbol designs are a mixture of playing card royals and icons that actually fit the theme! We don’t have a lot to say about the letters and numbers. They look the same in almost every Bally game, after all. That said, we do like the other icons. Pouches full of coins, mugs of ale, expensive swords and quivers full of arrows can all be found on the board. And taking the title of most valuable symbol is, of course, our favorite bandit!
How to Play Lady Robin Hood
This release is played on a 5×4 board with 40 fixed paylines. It has a low volatility, with a top prize of 200x on each spin. And even that’s only during free spins, when all cash prizes are doubled. We can’t say we’re that mad, either, because we knew what we were signing up for. We’re sharing the wealth as part of the Merry Men (or women), not hoarding it all for ourselves!
So, while you can’t expect massive wins from a single spin, you can expect it to slowly accumulate over time. But to do that, you’ll still need to hit the special features fairly frequently. The Arrow Mystery Bonus is, thankfully, quite frequent, and can grant some decent prizes. Free spins will make you work a little harder, that’s true. But without them, there’s no winning the jackpot, so get spinning!
Unfortunately, Lady Robin Hood being an older slot, it still uses coins. Thankfully, it’s still quite easy to choose your total bet, regardless. Bump up your stake per payline, and you’ll see how much your actual wager has increased. Using this method, you can bet between €0.40 and €400.00 on each spin.
Bonus Features
While it doesn’t have as many special features as Dragon Spin, this game is still quite fun to play. It forgoes spamming multiple bonuses in favor of one with a bit more depth to it. What kind of depth, you may ask? Read on to find out.
Arrow Mystery Bonus
This special feature triggers at random. The bandit leader will fire between two to eight arrows – and each time one hits, it adds a Wild to that position. These Wilds can only appear on reels two, three, four and five. Certainly increasing your odds of winning, but far from a guarantee.
Free Spins
Land the Scatter on the first, third and fifth reel at the same time to win ten free spins. During this bonus, a 2x multiplier is applied to all wins.
Shields
During free spins, shield icons appear above reels two, three, four and five. Each shield has four chunks, and one chunk is filled each time an arrow is collected from that reel. When all four positions are filled, that reel becomes Wilds for all remaining free spins. The arrow shots only count for arrows fired at special Target symbols.
Lady Robin Hood Payouts
Lady Robin Hood has a low volatility, and a jackpot worth 200x on each free spin. The slot’s RTP is 94.00%, which is two percentage points lower than the current average.
There’s a lot in this game that we like, and it would be all too easy to recommend it. But what few flaws it does have affect it too much. While we’d like nothing more than to join the adventure with this merry bandit band, we can’t do that. And we’ll answer why below.
The Positives!
The changes made to Robin Hood in this release are so minor they might not even be there. This may seem like an odd positive point, but we’ve seen too many reboots trying to be something they’re not.
Low volatility means frequent special feature activations. That, in turn, means lots of free spins, and increased odds of landing Lady Robin Hood’s jackpot!
It still looks really good, considering it was originally a physical machine. The background image, most of the symbols and the theme all come together to form a cohesive whole.
The Negatives.
The obvious elephant in the room is the RTP. We’re sorry, but 94% is simply too low for us to possibly approve of it. As fun as this game was to play, the end goal is still to win. There’s no reason to settle for anything less than 96% unless you’re playing a progressive jackpot release.
And speaking of wins, they only go up to 200x. Like Dragon Spin, the idea is to land multiple big wins that eventually accumulate. And while that sounds great on paper, it rarely pans out.
We were more than willing to recommend Lady Robin Hood, we really were. But until these problems are fixed, we can’t do that in good conscience.
